OPHELIA
It's 1602, and a storm is brewing in the North Sea, a storm with a young girl's name on it... Ophelia, daughter to the Danish Royal Advisor, has been trying to escape from Elsinore castle since childhood. With her father determined to keep her locked in her room, (and laying a lifelong guilt-trip on her about the death of her mother), Ophelia has literally become a "Girl in a Box," a prisoner of convention, and a slave to the whims of those around her. Her only salvation is her long-planned escape to London, but that thin ray of hope is growing more slender every day, now that the newly-wed Queen Gertrude is practically at war with England. Ophelia must escalate her plans from escape to survival, for Gertrude knows a little too much about Ophelia's true origins, and the control-freak queen is determined to keep the young girl from finding out the truth, no matter what the cost... | |
